Reading a word and hearing it are two different skills, and English spelling is a poor guide to the sound. This bot does one job: send it an English word and it replies with a voice message of the word spoken with a US accent, so you can play it as many times as you need.
The audio comes from the sound library of the online English dictionary WooordHunt, which the bot downloads once and keeps. That sets the limits: only the first word of a message is used, it must be 2 to 30 characters long, and a word the library lacks gets a "not found" reply with a contact for reporting it. There is no British variant, no transcription and no definition — pair it with a dictionary bot when you also need the meaning.
The code is open on GitHub under the account soko1 and was last updated in November 2025; the same author also made a bot for English irregular verbs. /donate and /thanks are the only other commands.
