Questions about an animal at an hour when the clinic is closed, and the lighter half - dogs, cats and facts to send into a chat.

For the consultation bots we asked the same three questions - a mild symptom, a symptom that means go now, and a medication question - and looked at whether the answer pushed towards a clinic where it should. For the picture bots we checked that they answer on request, work in a group and send nothing else.
Most worry about an animal happens at night, and the question is almost always the same: is this an emergency. An assistant that helps you sort the symptom, tells you which signs mean go immediately and helps you write down what you observed is genuinely useful - it turns panic into a list a vet can work from.
What it cannot do is examine the animal. Breathing trouble, bleeding, suspected poisoning, a swallowed object, a seizure or an animal that will not stand are clinic questions, and no chat can answer them. Medicine names and doses also differ by country, so confirm anything specific with a local vet.
Picture and fact bots are not a lesser thing - a dog photo on request is the most-used bot in plenty of group chats. They need no setup, keep no data and stay out of the way until called, which is why they survive for years while more ambitious bots disappear.
It can tell you what a symptom is commonly associated with and how urgent it looks. A diagnosis requires an examination, and that is a vet's job.
Breathing trouble, bleeding, suspected poisoning, a swallowed object, a seizure, or an animal that cannot stand. Do not spend that time typing.
They answer on request and send nothing on their own, which is exactly what you want in a chat that should stay quiet most of the day.
