A free open-source AI bot for everyday questions about a pet's health, behaviour and food. It gives a first answer and sends anything serious to a vet.
HelpMyPet is a small open-source bot that answers questions about a pet's health, behaviour and diet. You describe the situation in plain text - a dog that stopped eating, a cat scratching the sofa, a kitten's feeding schedule - and the bot replies with a first answer generated by Anthropic's Claude model. Serious cases always end with the same advice: see a vet.
That makes it a tool for the ordinary questions that do not justify a clinic call but still keep you up at night: is this food safe, how often should a kitten eat, why does the dog chew the lead. For anything that looks like an emergency it is the wrong place to start, and it does not pretend otherwise.
Two things to know before relying on it. The source code is public on GitHub, so anyone can see how it works, but the author archived the repository in June 2026: the bot still answers, yet fixes and new features should not be expected. And the project's published settings cap each person at five questions an hour and fifteen a day, so it suits a quick check rather than a long conversation.

Yes. There is no paid plan; the only restriction is a per-person limit of five questions an hour and fifteen a day in the project's published settings.

No. It gives general advice from a text description and itself recommends a vet for serious conditions.
