Each bot was subscribed to the same three sources: an RSS feed that updates hourly, a YouTube channel and an Instagram account. Over three days we measured the delay between publication and the post in Telegram, checked how the post looked, with a picture, a title and a link or a bare URL, and whether duplicates appeared. We noted the free limit on feeds and posts and whether the project is open source.
A site with an RSS feed is the easiest source: the bot polls the feed, the format is stable and nothing breaks when the site changes its design. Social networks are harder because they have no public feeds; bots like AximoBot scrape or use partner APIs, which means occasional gaps when a network changes its rules. If the source has RSS, use it even for a YouTube channel.
A good bot posts a picture, a title, a short excerpt and a link, and lets you choose which of those appear. Check the preview on a phone: long excerpts push the link below the fold. For a channel with multiple sources, add a prefix or hashtag per feed so readers can tell them apart.
