Urban Dictionary Bot

Urban Dictionary is where English slang gets written down before any editor decides whether it deserves an entry. This bot, built by developer Alberto Martínez with its code published on GitHub, is a front-end to it: send the phrase you did not understand — from a comment, a game chat, a meme — and it replies with the top definition, its author and the example. Arrow buttons under the message page through the other definitions of the same term, so you can see whether the crowd agrees.

It also works inline: type @UrbanDictionaryBot and a term in any chat to post a definition straight into the conversation, or leave the query empty to get random entries. In group chats it does not answer ordinary messages, so inline mode is the way to use it there. /random sends a random entry in the bot's own chat.

Use it as a decoder, not as an authority. Entries are written by anyone, the tone ranges from useful to crude, and the top definition is the one with the most votes rather than the most correct one. The bot handles English slang only; for a word in a document, a reference dictionary is the right tool.
