Markdown Bot

Telegram's Bot API supports a specific flavour of Markdown (and MarkdownV2) for formatting messages, complete with escaping rules that are easy to get wrong by hand — a stray underscore or asterisk can break an entire message. MarkdownBot's stated purpose is to translate plain text into that markdown style, which is useful both for testing how a piece of text will render and for producing correctly escaped text to paste into a bot's source code.

It also advertises a function aimed specifically at preparing posts for channels, linking to a companion channel (@mrkdwnrbt) that presumably demonstrates the formatting in practice. That makes it useful to two overlapping audiences: developers formatting Bot API messages, and channel owners or admins who want richer-looking posts without manually typing formatting syntax.

As a small independently run bot credited to a single creator, it is best treated as a formatting convenience rather than a guaranteed-correct MarkdownV2 escaper for production code — always double-check the output against Telegram's own formatting documentation for anything going into a live bot.
