How we chose
We set up the same 5 reminders in every bot: a one-off reminder in natural language ("remind me in 20 minutes"), a reminder tied to a specific date and time, a recurring weekly reminder, a reminder in a group chat rather than a private one, and a simple countdown timer. We checked whether natural-language input worked without rigid command syntax, whether reminders survived a bot restart, and how many active reminders the free tier allowed.

How to choose a reminder bot
The single most useful feature is natural-language parsing: a bot that understands "remind me tomorrow at 9am to call the bank" saves real time over one that requires a fixed command like /remind 09:00 2026-09-05. Test it with a phrase that isn't perfectly formatted — a bot that only works with exact syntax will frustrate you the first time you're typing quickly on a phone.
Natural language vs rigid commands
Recurring reminders are where bots differ most: check whether the bot supports "every weekday" or "every 2 hours," or only a fixed daily time, and whether you can pause a recurring reminder without deleting it outright. Group-chat support matters too if you want to remind a whole team — not every bot lets you set a reminder that pings the group rather than just you.
Free limits and reliability
Free tiers usually cap the number of simultaneously active reminders, commonly somewhere between 5 and 20, rather than how often you can create them. The bigger risk with a reminder bot isn't the limit but reliability — a reminder that silently fails to fire is worse than no reminder at all, so look for reports of missed notifications before relying on a bot for anything time-sensitive, like a flight or a medication schedule.

Most modern bots handle phrases like that in Russian and English without special commands, but accuracy varies from bot to bot.
Can I set a reminder in a group chat, not just for myself?
Not every bot supports this — check the description for whether it can post a reminder into the group itself rather than only in private messages.
Will the reminder still fire if I mute notifications or turn off my phone?
The bot sends the message at the scheduled time regardless of your phone's state, but you'll only see it once you turn the device back on and open the app.
