What Dicionário Bot does
A Brazilian Portuguese dictionary inside Telegram, made by the Brazilian developer Enzo N. Barata with its code open on GitHub. Send /definir and a word, or just the word, and the bot replies with the syllable breakdown, the definitions grouped by word class — the same word can be a noun and a verb — and a short etymology. /sinonimos returns synonyms, and /exemplos returns sentences taken from news and famous quotations that use the word.
You do not have to type a command every time: in the settings you decide what a bare word returns, and since version 4.0 (March 2026) a word with a slash can do something else, so "amor" gives definitions and "/amor" gives synonyms. In any chat, type @dicionariobot and a word to send definitions, synonyms or examples without opening the bot. Added to a group, it points out common spelling mistakes from a list published on its website. When a word is not found, it offers a search link to Google or to any search engine you add.
Two caveats. It is a Brazilian Portuguese dictionary with a Portuguese-only interface. And its privacy policy says the bot may carry third-party ads, not personalised, shown alongside lookups.
