What GetIDs Bot does
GetIDs Bot answers the question every bot developer asks sooner or later: what is the numeric ID of this user, chat or channel? Forward a message to it in a private chat and it prints what Telegram hides in the forward: the sender, the origin chat, the message ID and details of any photo, audio, sticker, video or file, laid out as a small tree. Send /start to see your own account.
A few commands go further. Reply to a message with /json to get it as Bot API JSON, reply with /user to inspect that person, and use /admins in a group to list its administrators. The bot also shows an approximate account creation date. /idhelp explains that this is an interpolation from a list of known IDs and dates, marked with «~» because it is only a guess.
The code is open source under MIT, with translations into English, German, Italian, Persian and Russian. In 2026 the developers updated the repository and added a notice that the bot is no longer actively developed: it may keep working, but fixes will not come quickly. Telegram shows about 29,700 monthly users.

FAQ
Why doesn't the bot show the ID of a forwarded user?
If the sender hides their account in forwarded messages in Telegram's privacy settings, the forward carries only a name, so no bot can see the ID.
How accurate is the account creation date?
It is a rough estimate. The bot compares your ID with a list of IDs whose creation dates are known, and its own help calls the result a guess.
