What Hoshimya Anime Bot does
Hoshimya is the plain search half of what a big tracker does, without the account. You type a title and get the card; you type a genre and get a list to scroll. That is the whole interaction, which is exactly why people keep it around — the question "what was that show about" gets answered in one message.
The data comes from the public MyAnimeList catalogue, so the descriptions, scores and statuses are the ones you would see on the site. The bot has a GitHub repository and points there for issues, which is a good sign of a maintained hobby project, and there is no charge, no login and no ads.
