Send your location and get a list of interesting places nearby, with distance, travel time, a photo and a short description, plus help building a route there. Free, worldwide, built on open map data.
OpenTripBot answers one question a traveller asks all the time: what is worth seeing around here? You share your location, and the bot replies with a list of interesting places nearby. For each one it shows how far it is, how long it takes to get there, a photo and a short description, and it can help you build a route to the place you pick.
The bot belongs to the OpenTripMap project, a map of tourist attractions built on open data from OpenStreetMap, Wikidata and Wikipedia. That is why it works anywhere in the world rather than in a fixed list of cities, and why it costs nothing: none of the sources we checked mention a paid plan or a subscription. The flip side of open data is that results depend on what volunteers have already mapped and written up, so a well-documented old town will give you more than a new suburb.
Be aware of how thin the paper trail is. The link between the bot and OpenTripMap comes from a 2018 article about the platform; opentripmap.com itself does not link to the bot, so we list it as unofficial. The bot was still included in a 2024 roundup of travel bots and its Telegram page is live, but there is no recent changelog and Telegram does not show a monthly user count for it.
The interface is in English and Russian. There are no planned itineraries, audio guides or bookings here: it is a quick "what's near me" tool for walking around a new place, not a trip planner.
Free Free; no paid plan or limits are mentioned in any source

Yes, that is how it works. You send your location and the bot looks for interesting places around that point.
A 2018 article about the platform presents it as an OpenTripMap service, but opentripmap.com does not link to the bot, so we list it as unofficial.
