BotFather vs User Info • Get ID • IDbot
For someone starting a Telegram bot, BotFather (@BotFather) comes first: Telegram's official tool registers the bot, issues the API token and sets commands, description and avatar. User Info (@userinfobot) solves the next problem, the numeric IDs real code needs: /start shows your own ID, and a forwarded message shows the sender's, with no sign-up. One catch: people who hide their account in forwarded messages will not reveal an ID. They are not rivals, and a working bot usually needs both. Once the token exists and you need a user ID for an allow-list or a chat ID for an API call, open User Info.
