GitHubBot solves a narrow but common problem: keeping a Telegram chat in sync with what is happening on a public GitHub repository without checking the site every few minutes. Point it at a repository and it starts posting new commits, opened and closed issues, pull requests and other activity as they happen, which is enough for a small team or an open-source maintainer to stay aware of a project from inside the same app they already use to talk.

What sets it apart from a plain webhook relay is the ability to act, not just read: the bot lets you post a comment on an issue directly from the chat, closing the loop between seeing an update and responding to it without switching to a browser. That two-way flow is unusual among the many GitHub-to-Telegram bots that only forward notifications.

Because it only works with public repositories, it is not a fit for private company codebases — those need a token-based webhook setup like GitLab's own Telegram integration, or a self-hosted bot. For open-source projects and public mirrors, though, it removes the need to build anything custom just to get GitHub activity into a group chat.
