The Telegram bot of Mexico's electricity company CFE: enter your 12-digit service number to see the balance and download the bill, find where to pay and report a power outage. Free, no sign-up.
If you pay for electricity in Mexico, CFE (Comisión Federal de Electricidad) is almost certainly your supplier, and CFEContigoBot is its front desk on Telegram. The bot appeared in mid-2022 and now has more than 54,000 monthly users, which makes it one of the busiest utility bots on the platform.
Everything runs from a numbered menu. The option most people come for is "Consultar saldo y recibo": type the 12-digit service number printed on your bill, and the bot shows the balance and hands you the receipt as a file to keep on your phone. From the same menu you can see where to pay or get a barcode for paying at a store, find the nearest CFE service centre or CFEmático kiosk, learn how to read the bill, report a power outage and follow up on a report or a service order.
There is no account to create: the service number is enough to look up a bill. The payment itself still happens outside the bot, at banks, supermarkets and authorised shops.
One thing worth knowing: fake "CFE" WhatsApp numbers circulate that ask for the account holder's details. According to Informador, CFE names its website, the 071 phone line, the CFE Contigo app and CFEContigoBot as its contact channels. The cfe.mx website itself does not link to the bot, so our confirmation rests on that press coverage. Open the exact username rather than a lookalike.
Free The bot is free; you pay only the electricity bill itself

Mexican outlets Informador and Milenio describe it as CFE's Telegram channel, and Informador lists it among CFE's contact channels next to the website, 071 and the CFE Contigo app. The cfe.mx website does not link to it, so we mark the vendor-side link as unconfirmed.
No. The bot shows the balance and the bill, tells you where to pay and can generate a barcode, but the payment happens at banks, supermarkets and authorised shops.
