Quito Bot, the virtual assistant of Quito's Metropolitan Municipality in Ecuador, answers questions about city procedures such as property tax, the LUAE business licence, property registry and cadastre, around the clock in Telegram.
Dealing with a city hall usually starts with a question before any form: which requirements, which office, can it be done online? Quito's metropolitan government (GAD del Distrito Metropolitano de Quito) answers those questions with Quito Bot, a virtual assistant it has promoted since at least 2021 and now offers in Telegram as @uio_quitobot, named in the city's official news outlet Quito Informa.
The assistant covers the procedures residents ask about most: property tax (impuesto predial), the municipal business tax (patente), property transfers, the single business operating licence LUAE, certificates, and registry and cadastral matters. The municipality says it guides you step by step and tells you when a question needs an online procedure instead. By August 2024 the city counted more than 54,000 consultations handled by Quito Bot, about 5,000 a month.
It is an information desk, not an office: you get requirements and directions, while the filing itself happens on the municipal services portal or at a counter. For Quito residents that is still a real time saver, because the answer comes from the municipality and is available at any hour. Outside Quito it has nothing to offer, and it works in Spanish only.

The bot gives guidance: requirements, steps and where to go. Filing and payment are done through the municipality's online services or at a counter, and the bot points you there.
